Les membres de cette \u00e9quipe re\u00e7oivent un Prix du gouverneur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral pour l\u2019innovation pour leur travail visant \u00e0 d\u00e9velopper des syst\u00e8mes de nanoparticules lipidiques (NPL) pour administrer des m\u00e9dicaments anticanc\u00e9reux dans les tumeurs et pour permettre l\u2019utilisation th\u00e9rapeutique de m\u00e9dicaments \u00e0 base d\u2019ARN et d\u2019ADN. Entre autres r\u00e9alisations, leurs travaux ont abouti aux syst\u00e8mes NPL qui entrent dans la mise au point du vaccin \u00e0 ARNm contre la COVID-19 de Pfizer\/BioNTech.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-255747f elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"255747f\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">\u00c0 propos de l\u2019innovateurs<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-ccb2a3e elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"ccb2a3e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Constitu\u00e9e au d\u00e9but des ann\u00e9es 1980 \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 de Colombie-Britannique, dans le laboratoire du Dr Cullis, l\u2019\u00e9quipe est la premi\u00e8re \u00e0 inventer un appareil pour fabriquer des nanoparticules lipidiques. Cette r\u00e9ussite m\u00e8ne \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation de Lipex Biomembranes pour mieux distribuer l\u2019instrument \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle mondiale. Par la suite, l\u2019\u00e9quipe met au point des m\u00e9thodes permettant de charger des m\u00e9dicaments anticanc\u00e9reux dans les nanoparticules lipidiques et cr\u00e9e Inex Pharmaceuticals. Trois de ses m\u00e9dicaments NPL re\u00e7oivent par la suite l\u2019approbation r\u00e9glementaire pour traiter le cancer et ses complications. En 2009, l\u2019\u00e9quipe met sur pied Acuitas Therapeutics pour d\u00e9velopper des formules NPL d\u2019agents th\u00e9rapeutiques \u00e0 base d\u2019acides nucl\u00e9iques comme les petits ARN interf\u00e9rents (siRNA) et les ARN messagers (ARNm) pour des applications th\u00e9rapeutiques et de vaccination. Acuitas noue des partenariats avec des entreprises pharmaceutiques et biotechnologiques et des universit\u00e9s pour faire passer les traitements \u00e0 base d\u2019acides nucl\u00e9iques aux stades d\u2019essai clinique et de commercialisation. Acuitas a des ententes avec plusieurs partenaires pour utiliser sa technologie nanolipidique exclusive dans le d\u00e9veloppement des vaccins contre la COVID-19. Parmi ces partenaires, mentionnons Pfizer\/BioNTech pour son vaccin COMIRNATY\u00ae, lequel a re\u00e7u une approbation compl\u00e8te aux \u00c9tats-Unis et au Canada et est autoris\u00e9 pour une
