Cette \u00e9quipe multidisciplinaire n\u2019a pas seulement d\u00e9couvert le g\u00e8ne pathog\u00e8ne TMEM43, mais a aussi pilot\u00e9 des recherches pour concevoir des m\u00e9thodes de d\u00e9pistage et des traitements pr\u00e9ventifs permettant de sauver des vies. Les m\u00e9decins du monde entier disposent maintenant de l\u2019information n\u00e9cessaire pour traiter, \u00e0 partir d\u2019un simple test de mutation, des centaines de porteurs de ce g\u00e8ne \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un d\u00e9fibrillateur cardioverteur implantable (DCI), ce qui allonge notablement l\u2019esp\u00e9rance de vie des personnes touch\u00e9es. Ces avanc\u00e9es ont donn\u00e9 lieu \u00e0 un changement de paradigme en mati\u00e8re de prise en charge clinique et de suivi \u00e9thique.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-2fab0c7 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"2fab0c7\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">L\u2019innovateur<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-6e0bf59 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"6e0bf59\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Durant leur collaboration de 20 ans, ces chercheurs ont :<br>a) d\u00e9couvert une mutation g\u00e9n\u00e9tique l\u00e9tale et ont convaincu la communaut\u00e9 scientifique du fait qu\u2019une anomalie d\u2019une seule lettre dans une prot\u00e9ine inconnue peut engendrer des cons\u00e9quences mortelles (projet dirig\u00e9 par Dre Young, PhD)\u2009;<br>b) d\u00e9fini la v\u00e9ritable nature du processus pathog\u00e9nique de la naissance \u00e0 la mort, avec et sans traitement (projet dirig\u00e9 par Dre Hodgkinson, PhD)\u2009;<br>c) \u00e9tabli, \u00e0 partir de la mutation g\u00e9n\u00e9tique, la th\u00e9rapie pr\u00e9symptomatique par DCI permettant de prolonger de 30 ans la vie de membres des familles touch\u00e9es (projet dirig\u00e9 par le Dr Connors)\u2009;<br>et d) contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019adoption de politiques et de lois novatrices en mati\u00e8re de sant\u00e9 qui exigent le contr\u00f4le provincial de la recherche en g\u00e9n\u00e9tique \u00e0 Terre-Neuve-et-Labrador (projet dirig\u00e9 par le Dr Pullman).<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div
