Ces biosurfactants sont des alternatives abordables et non toxiques aux surfactants synth\u00e9tiques \u00e0 base de p\u00e9trole et d\u2019huile de palme, utilis\u00e9s dans les produits de consommation courante tels que savons et cosm\u00e9tiques. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle industrielle, leur premier biosurfactant, PuraSurf, permettra d\u2019\u00e9liminer pr\u00e8s d\u2019un million de tonnes d\u2019\u00e9quivalents CO\u2082.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-284834e elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"284834e\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">L\u2019innovatrice<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-8178966 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"8178966\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Nivatha Balendra a toujours \u00e9t\u00e9 fascin\u00e9e par la science. D\u00e8s la huiti\u00e8me ann\u00e9e, elle a commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 participer chaque ann\u00e9e \u00e0 des foires scientifiques \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al, et ses projets ult\u00e9rieurs portaient notamment sur l\u2019efficacit\u00e9 de l\u2019\u00e9thanol en tant qu\u2019agent antibact\u00e9rien et sur la faisabilit\u00e9 de l\u2019isopropanol comme alternative plus s\u00fbre et plus efficace. La catastrophe de Lac-M\u00e9gantic l\u2019a profond\u00e9ment marqu\u00e9e et l\u2019a incit\u00e9e \u00e0 rechercher des agents tensioactifs respectueux de l\u2019environnement pour nettoyer les contaminations p\u00e9troli\u00e8res. En tant qu\u2019\u00e9tudiante au C\u00e9gep, elle a recueilli des \u00e9chantillons de sol afin d\u2019y analyser la pr\u00e9sence de bact\u00e9ries capables de produire des tensioactifs. Elle s\u2019est ensuite inscrite \u00e0 l\u2019Universit\u00e9 McGill, o\u00f9 elle a poursuivi ses recherches, tout en d\u00e9pla\u00e7ant son attention de la d\u00e9pollution environnementale vers le remplacement des tensioactifs d\u00e9riv\u00e9s du p\u00e9trole ou de l\u2019huile de palme dans les produits de consommation courante. Elle a fond\u00e9 Dispersa\u00ae en 2019, alors qu\u2019elle \u00e9tait encore \u00e9tudiante de premier cycle \u00e0 McGill. Le catalyseur de cette aventure : sa s\u00e9lection parmi les six finalistes du tout premier Women in CleanTech Challenge du Canada, qui lui a permis de b\u00e9n\u00e9ficier de plus d\u2019un million de dollars en financement et en accompagnement pour faire cro\u00eetre son entreprise. En 2021, Dispersa\u00ae a brevet\u00e9 sa technologie de fermentation microbienne BioEterna\u00ae, une premi\u00e8re mondiale permettant de produire des tensioactifs de haute qualit\u00e9 \u00e0 partir de d\u00e9chets alimentaires, de mani\u00e8re abordable. En 2023, Dispersa\u00ae a lev\u00e9 plus de 3 millions de dollars en capital priv\u00e9 et en subventions, ce qui lui a permis de lancer une production \u00e0 plus grande \u00e9chelle au Cap-Breton, en compl\u00e9ment de ses travaux de recherche et d\u00e9veloppement \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al. Plus t\u00f4t cette ann\u00e9e, l\u2019entreprise a cl\u00f4tur\u00e9 un tour de financement d\u2019amor\u00e7age de 5,8 millions de dollars pour commercialiser sa production. En 2025, Dispersa\u00ae pr\u00e9voit de mettre \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9chelle rapidement le tout premier biosurfactant d\u00e9riv\u00e9 de d\u00e9chets au monde, le PuraSurf M \u2014 le premier d\u2019une s\u00e9rie d\u2019alternatives \u00e9cologiques et abordables que Nivatha Balendra esp\u00e8re offrir au march\u00e9.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element
