The Queen Elizabeth Scholars Program

International experiences can change the way we see ourselves, our communities and the world.

The Queen Elizabeth Scholars program creates opportunities for students and researchers to learn across borders through international study, research and work-integrated experiences. Scholars develop new skills, build cross-cultural understanding and form relationships that can continue long after their QES experience ends.

At the heart of QES is a commitment to developing global citizens, strengthening leadership and community engagement, and building connections between people and institutions around the world.

How to become a Queen Elizabeth Scholar

QES is different from a traditional scholarship program. Students do not apply directly to the RHF. Opportunities are administered by participating Canadian universities and colleges as part of projects supported through QES.

1. Find a participating institution:

Explore current QES projects and the Canadian universities and colleges offering opportunities for students and researchers.

2. Find an opportunity:

Each institution recruits its own QE Scholars based on its QES project, areas of study, international partners and eligibility requirements.

3. Apply through the institution:

Contact the international office or QES program contact at the participating institution for information about available opportunities, eligibility and how to apply.

QES Alumni

QES Alumni Community

The QES experience doesn’t end when a placement or program does. Alumni programming helps QE Scholars stay connected, continue learning and find new opportunities to collaborate with a global community of 3,000 Scholars. Through QES Connect, mentorship, events and other opportunities, alumni can build new relationships, share their experience and stay engaged with the QES program.

Jeanne Sauvé – QES Mentorship Program

The Jeanne Sauvé–QES Mentorship Program pairs QES alumni with experienced leaders for nine months of mentorship focused on career development, leadership and applied learning. Mentees can also propose projects, with selected projects eligible for up to $7,500 in funding.

A decade of global impact

Established in 2012 to honour the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, QES has grown through partnerships among post-secondary institutions, governments, philanthropic organizations and hundreds of international partners.
